Welcome to the Acomb Baptist web-site.
We pray that you will be blessed and inspired as you explore it.
Following on from the Easter services we still reflect upon the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God's one and only Son. It is this story that lies at the heart of our faith – the faith of all Christians – in all denominations everywhere.
For almost 2000 years the message has been proclaimed, through good times and bad, all over the world that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. That he died on the cross to take away our sins and was raised from the dead to bring all who believe into right relationship with God.
Following on from those first steps of faith, all believers are called to be baptised in water, to join a local church family and there to faithfully grow and serve as disciples of Christ. We are not ashamed of this gospel of Christ but believe it to be 'the power of God unto salvation for all who believe.'
If you want to find out more about the Christian faith and what it means to follow Christ in the twenty-first century then you are more than welcome to sign up to one of our Alpha courses or to drop by and see for yourself at one of our services or cell groups that meet together each week.
All who belong to Christ are brought into this living relationship with God the Father through faith in his Son Jesus Christ and are filled with God's Holy Spirit in order to live this new life. Such an indwelling of God the Holy Spirit allows space for reflection upon the journey we are all taking. This journey, following Christ, truly gives meaning to life. We discover fresh opportunities to serve and find fulfilment in the purpose of God – with the ongoing prayer that the world might indeed become a better place – as more and more we follow Christ together.
